My New Look

RyanBoswell.com Version 2.0

As you may have noticed if you visit regularly, there’s a new design up. It’s pretty similar to the old version. Basically, this is a refresh of the original design, since I liked a lot of the elements in it. One of the most noticeable changes is the absence of a proper sidebar. The purpose for this is that all the important stuff was moved to the bottom of the page in three columns. I wanted to turn my content into two columns, and there just wasn’t room for a sidebar, so I tossed it. The main color has stayed blue, because it’s one of my favorite colors, and it needed to stay that way to stay in line with my branding scheme.

Facebook Limits

I’ve been a somewhat dedicated Facebook user for about a year now, and I love it. I’ve had few bad experiences with the site and generally it’s great to use. However, one of their anti-spam features was recently brought to my attention, in a less than welcome way.

Platform Convergence Creating Spoiled Users

In the past few years as Web 2.0 has propagated past the first adopters to the mainstream, more and more ways are being developed to converge the desktop and web platforms. The debate of whether the desktop will dissolve as the web becomes more integrated with platforms like Apollo and Silverlight is a whole post in itself, and I may get to that, and is not the aim of this post. As applications become more and more integrated with each other and web properties and RSS becomes more and more ubiquitous users are becoming more and more spoiled.
